Elbow Grip Armbar from High Guard
In this technique from the "Braulio Estima Closed Guard Techniques" series, Braulio demonstrates how to set up an arm attack after breaking the opponent's posture. He starts with strong collar control, applying constant pressure and shaking to disrupt balance. This prevents the opponent from comfortably placing their hands on the ground, setting them up for the arm attack.
With the opponent’s movement restricted, Braulio then moves to capitalize on the elbow, pushing it to the center. He uses his knees and thighs to apply pressure on the elbow, locking the opponent’s shoulder in place. This setup leaves the opponent unable to retract their arm, leading to a secure arm lock setup.
Braulio explains that maintaining control from the start through the posture and having a strategic grip setup not only makes the submission process smoother but also psychologically impacts the opponent, increasing the likelihood of errors on their part. This technique is a culmination of detailed control and strategic positioning, making it a potent tool in closed guard.
